Ballerina buns, towering top knots...call them what you will. These rounded hair buns have been an easy celebrity style to make all your own, and they are not difficult to create.
For an easy version simply pull your hair into a high ponytail with a non-damaging elastic. Twist the pony and wrap it around the base. Use a few carefully placed bobby pins to secure the knot and you are all set. For hair that is too slick to hold, separate your pony into three or four sections and do a little back combing to build some security. Smooth the outer edges and then wrap.
If you have finer hair, try picking up a little booster...I saw bun forms on sale at H&M in several hair colors and they were just a few dollars. Make the same pony, pull the tail through a booster and wrap your hair over the top of the rounded foam piece. Again, just secure the ends with bobby pins.
Buns have made a huge wave in the current fashion trends and they won't be going away anytime soon. They have a formal appeal and really show off a great pair of earrings, and your hair won't steal the thunder of an elaborate dress. Simple versions can be created to wear to the gym and you can be cool and stylish.
Give the bun a try!
